Design & Fabrication 

 

  Photos: 1 screenshot of your Research Table of questions, 1 screenshot of your Design Specification table, and 1 photo of your thumbnail sketches of ideas. If you have a more formal drawing on the graph paper with dimensions, please include a photo of that too. 

Prompts: 

• What are two things that make your design unique to you, something you've added to a design or invented to make it better? 
• What is one thing that you aren't sure will work about your idea? 
• What aspect of the actual sound amplification is most important to you on this project?

Making progress on Amped!

Weeks 2 and 3
So far we've worked through a few of the preliminary stages of research and design specifications for the AMPED project.  Week 2 had more exploration of the physics of sound, finding dimensions of the phone to be amplified, consideration of the qualities of various materials when it comes to the sound, etc.  Week 3 included the summary of that research, writing the design brief after making some decisions about what was to be included in each individual design, and then finally making the first round of the Design Specification.  Lastly, we went back to sketching some thumbnails and then drawing out a design prospect with some dimensions to see how it might be created with the tools and materials at hand. We also looked briefly at Fusion 360, but will begin designing digitally after a sketch with the dimensions is completed.

Second Semester!

Yay! Welcome to the second semester section of Design & Fabrication with Ms. Sutter!

This is the class blog which will have daily updates (except this week) on what we do, what resources to use, and what's coming up. Plus you will find the weekly blog prompts here every Friday or Saturday, so you can make your blog post by Monday morning! Remember, you can always start your post early by adding photos and then add your responses to the prompts by editing later in the weekend.

This week we dove in and downloaded Fusion 360, which we'll be using soon! If you want to get a head start and explore on your own or find tutorials you like on youtube, go ahead!

Plus we went over the course materials for the first project AMPED! You've started your research into design ideas that inspire you  starting on Pinterest, and then choosing two examples to explore in terms of design, function, construction, dimensions, etc. as a jumping off point for what you can improve on in your own design.

We'll see what you've picked on Monday in class - can't wait to see what you have in mind!
