11/19 3D Design Class Blog

We are now working on our final project. Our final project is a masterpiece or something individuals can make now because we have developed 3D design skills over the course of this semester. Each individual has a few weeks to work on this project and we should be done by the end of this semester. Today during class, everyone finished their basic sculpture and plan models. This step is to check for certain errors because sometimes the measurements could be off or may look a little bit different than it is on the computer screen. For the next few classes, we would now work on our actual final projects and try to finish them in the next few classes

11/4 DF4 Class Blog:

We worked on further planning our hackashape designs - at this point some of us decided to make a plan of the process, and most of us (should) have finished the materials list as well as the cardboard markings of where the cables, lights and gemma boards will be, ready to start next class.
HW: Make sure the materials list (spraypaint, lights, etc.) is complete

3D 7 Class Blog - 11/17/15

Today in class we had to continue working on our final project including finishing up our prototypes if we hadn't and if did complete it, we were supposed to continue our work on our final completed project. People in our class are doing laser cutting, 3D printing, and wood cutting for their final designs.

Homework:
Continue working on your final project with touchups as well as doing work out of class to complete on time.

Design and Fab 2

Today in class, most of us finished printing our shapes out of wood. We took our cardboard shapes, saw where holes for lights needed to go, put them on illustrator and printed. We also started to spray paint the shapes.

3D Design 11/13

Today in class we worked on our projects some more with a focus on creating a tangible prototype. Jaeyoung, for example, worked on designing his engine parts so that he could 3D print them.

DF4 class blog

Today in class, everyone printed their 2 shapes out of wood. We took our cardboard shapes, saw where holes for lights needed to go,  put them on illustrator and printed.

A lot of people started to spray paint their cardboard shapes with a variety of colors. We went outside and most people put a base color first and then added multiple colors on top. They turned out very well.

3D Design 11/11

Today Ms. Sutter was not here so we had a substitute. We were still working on project, that would make life easier for us, and we were trying to finish a prototype by today. The homework is to finish your prototype as soon as possible.

11/10 Design and Fabrication

Today in design and Fabrication as a class we brainstormed ideas about what we wanted our group shape to look like when we connect all of the individual shapes through tabs. We came to the conclusion that a tree made up of our shapes sounded like an interesting idea, but creating a base for a huge tree might be hard.
We then moved on to thinking about our own designs for  the class shape. There are many components to think about when trying to add your own LED lights and NeoPixal strips to a small shape, such as how and where you can fit them on. So, to organize and add holes for the LED lights, the shape class used illustrator.

11/6 DF2 Class Blog

We started class off with a bang, downloading the latest Adobe Creative Cloud software. Here is John   focusing on his computer.

We continued with soldering, with Ms. Sutter giving us a demo.

More John for your viewing pleasure.

We also worked on sewing electronics into fabric!

11/4 DF2 Class Blog

Today in class we worked on designing and planning out what we are going to do for our "hack a shape" project. We each got a cardboard version of our class shape and used it to plan out what we are going to do with it later, using LEDs, paint, and other decorative things, along with the wires and circuitry that are required to make them work.

11/2 DF4 Class Blog

Today we worked on Gemma circuit boards and Arduino with Neopixel rings. We learned how to set how to set up codes on Arduino, then uploaded it to our Gemma board. We then hooked it up with the neopixel ring, which lit up.

Homework
Catch up on any late blog posts.

11/2 DF2 Class Blog

Today in Design and Fabrication we started to learn about Arduino. In the beginning of class Mrs. Sutter showed us how to set up the Arduino code. After we had the basic idea down we began to start our code to light the Neopixel Ring. After we completed setting up the lights we were told to go find another piece of code to make the lights do something else.

10/30/15

Today in 3D design the students worked on there independent project research and tried to find out what the students are going to be working on. Also some students received there 3D printed objects and sanded it down and made them look better.

HW is to continue your research for your project and finalize your ideas.
