Week 11 Prompts due Monday 4/3

Weeks 11 Blog Prompts 
 
Design & Fabrication 
 
  Photos: Screenshots of any further developments of your AMPED design.(new exploded progress) AND photos of any construction you did this week (3D printed, laser cut, glued, etc.)

Prompts: 
  • What are the next 3 steps, in order, that you need to take to make your amp?
  • What is a roadblock at this point? How can you / we make it work so you can keep making progress?
  • What if any changes to your design have you made since you started having actual, real world parts to look at / test?
  • If your next step is cutting layers using the laser cutter, consider coming in early for class on Tuesday 4/4 (Activity is right before)
  •  
  • REMEMBER TO FINISH UP your design documents (Design Brief, Design SPEC, annotated exploded views that reference your design spec needs, etc. )

Amp Progress March 20-24


Finally putting the pieces together into things that look like our digital designs!
The excitement is palpable as we get Adobe Illustrator files ready for the laser cutter, glue layers of wood and acrylic, sand edges clean and smooth, clean up 3D prints, and more. 


Check back in another week or so to see even more progress!

  Photos: Photo of your phone stand (cut, folded, holding a phone IF you dont have it in a previous post). Screenshots of any further developments of your AMPED design.(new exploded progress) AND photos of any construction you did this week (3D printed, laser cut, glued, etc.)

  • Have you gathered your materials yet? Made the STL file? 123D Make file?

March 13-17 Starting to make AMPS!

Finally we are in production mode for our amps.
Cones have been 3D printed in PLA
Layers have been laser cut out of wood
Exploded views are being completed accurately to the construction methods.
Materials are being gathered.
Slowly but surely! the goal is to have the parts and pieces ready to go and/or put together by Friday before break.

Week 8 Prompts due Monday 3/6

  Photos:  Add your exploded view if it wasn't included last week. This is a necessary step before construction! Also add a screenshot of your IMPROVED or FINISHED phone stand design in Illustrator (different shot from last week!), and of it being cut if you got to cut it, and the folded form (even if it broke) if you got that far.

Prompts: 
  • What was something you learned from making your prototype? What did you change after you cut it out?
  • What was one thing that you had to revise or fix about your phone stand AI file before you could submit it for printing? What did you learn from that?
  • What surprised you about using the laser cutter (if you are one of the half of the class that got that far)?
  • What do you still have to do / figure out before getting started on making your AMP?

  • ******REMEMBER ******* still work on your amp exploded design as we are working in class on the phone stand. ALL phone stand designs should be in your google folder by Sunday night so the designs can be organized for printing Monday!
